This view from a shattered window
doesn’t look so bad anymore.
Eyes glazed in shadows; mind laced with fear
Broken remnants of what she used to hear
Reality falling apart; caught in a moment
Spiraling around overhead
The voices won’t quit their games,
Too many words today.
And like a fallen angel, battered and bruised
Determination shines on through
Out these locked doors, dancing on the surface
Footprints in the sands of a memory
The same mistakes won’t happen this time
She’ll make her stand outside of these walls
And maybe they’ll understand
Seemingly hopeless, shouting out once
Echoing softly, the words miss the drop
And suddenly it all seems clear…
Her way out of here
So take all of these photographs
Frame them on the walls; then burn them down
Let sanctity shine on through
Tear away the shadows; break the loop
Heal the wounds
Off of the surface, wings open wide
She’ll fly through the memories
She’ll let them all die
And see, it suddenly seems so clear
Her way out of here
Her way out of here
