    dotsIron And Thistledots

Iron and thistle, dark dreams of thunder,
Over the black fens, and over the moor,
Golden anklets with crowns buried under
The cairn of a dead king in far Bangalore.

Columns of granite fluted and tumbled
Into the valley and into the stream
Here the old castle moss-grown and crumbled
Lives down the eons but only in dream.

My dream ship is anchored fast by the shoreline,
No sextant or crew can now lead me home,
No stars to guide for here is no star shine,
Only the dark waves that pound into foam.

Iron and thistle, dark dreams of thunder,
Over the black fens, and over the moor,
Golden anklets with crowns buried under
The cairn of the dead king in far Bangalore.

a brawny warrior, bonnie prince charlie's man perhaps, off to battle in a raging storm
i cant tell if the storm is of his minds own making or if it is a true storm of nature. deep charcoal grays and a seething midnight blue, with just the flash of war tartans through the pelting rain, a hint of soft lavenders on the horizon
His great claymore raised in defense of the great stone keep behind him, where lightening strikes to illuminate a darkly shadowed figure, but if the turn to the side their hair falls past their hips(glinting bits of golden red, or blue-black) and a full belly (a small hand laying protectively against its crest)
They fight for the land, for freedom, for love, and for peace.
I'm sorry to so take over the descripton of this, but sometimes when I read your work I see great murals and masterpiece painting in my mind come to life to haunt the unwary thinker.
I love this. You have such a way with words that I cannot help but fall into the story of them.

"Iron and thistle, dark dreams of thunder,"

I like this; it sounds like the recurrent dream of a soldier or warrior!

This is rich in wording and structure, and rich with word pictures! It has that "ghostly voice that reaches out from the deep" that you are so good at creating! Excellent!

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
