Rain was pounding on the door.
Puddles engulfed the soft dirt.
I sat by the window,
mesmerized by the cascading droplets.
Rain was foreshadowing,
warning me,
"Beware."
A chill ran down my spine.
Tension stroked at my back.
My brain was storming in a chaotic rage.
I could sense the monster around the corner.
Fear was it's name.
Fear and Death resided within our home. Death silently stalked the woman's room
as fear lurked toward me.
She layed in her bed for days.
The spinning fan spilled out its cool, crisp air.
A feverish discomfort filled her body.
"I'm dying," she groaned.
She was unaware of the truth she spoke that night.
Her eyelids began to slide down
like a barricade.
Parts of her gave up hope,
one after the other.
She was letting go of her soul.
Cowardly,
I was curled up in my cave.
I was unconsious
til the climatic hour called.
My blind eyes chilled the moment
of her memorable expiration.
Her breath;
the time clock of life,
was slowing sadly
in the stark night.
My Mother's heart was a fading cry:
BA-DUM
Ba-Dum
Ba-dum
ba-dum
ba-da
