The Empty Glass -------------------------------------------
I feel empty, like a glass that has been drained and set down to dry
On the outside, caressed by the breeze
But the warmth never touches the inside.
Let me glean from the solitude some knowledge of myself,
Let me learn who I am and for what I stand.
But let me feel; let me feel something.
Let me take from this life all that I can;
A lover's touch, a child's smile, the feel of a kitten
snuggled up against me.
Let me cry, and often. Let me love just as much and just as deeply.
Just let me feel...
Very nice release of thoughts. Things that I believe many will be able to relate to. The "kitten" reference took away from everything else I thought though.
A powerful and most poignant piece of poetry, wonderfully concieved and very deftly written...I liked this poem hugely! bravo... bravo... bravo... michael
