Description: I often write things from the perspectives of characters I have played or are playing. Recently, a character I played base off some stereotypical ideas regarding Norse mythology and beliefs is faced with a situation where she is likely to die and be hunted down like a dog.
So, as a momento to her legacy and her lineage...she wrote this upon her shield.
I Go -------------------------------------------
I go to do my duty
I go to carry my shield
I go to recite fallen names
Before I go to join them
I go to climb the broken hill
I go to near the gallow's tree
I go to face death
Before I go to my own
I go to brandish my hammer
I go to carry honor
I go to fulfill my office
Before I go to leave it
I go to die the Good Death
I go to taste the blood
I go to remember glory
Before my name is forgotten
This was very nice to read--I do find Norse mythology fascinating, even though at times its baffling as well. this was exactly the kind of in your face statement that you would think to find on a shield, so that worked well. overall, I appreciate this kind of thing a lot!
