    dotswhat we were.dots

    what's this,
    he inquired coldly
    as he flipped through
    my collection of bodice ripping,
true love until the end of time
    romance novels.

    it's what i wish
    we were,
    i thought silently.

    but i kept tidying,
    a poker face any pro
    could be proud of
    and replied,

    my sweet.

    he ignored the endearment.

    i ignored the insult,
    because pretending
    he's perfect
    is better than being

    i'd rather
    wake up beside him
    than alone.

    alone is forever,
    trapped inside myself.

at least when he holds me
    i feel loved.

      beautifully sad.

    my sweet.

    he ignored the endearment.

The truth and power in only those three lines is overwhelming and so well put.

There's really no critisism I can give on this piece. It was wonderful.

I was going to say that you could add quotations, just to sound somewhat constructive, but I like the style and format without them. : ]

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
