You, my All

You, my All;
the ancient philosophers,
vainly argued Its nature,
attributing It the elements,
Earth, Fire, Water,
or the Universe or the Atom, when
years hence,
It embodied Itself as
You, my All.

If Eternity were a petal,
then, the Universe its dew,
would roll off the petal,
into the waiting lips of
You, my All.

"I am what you wish.
I am the trickle of water,
and the snarl of fire
and the grumble of earth.
I am dreamer and the waker.
I am the boomerang you spin
and the hand that catches it.
I am all these things and the rest too,
because I am you."

What I have to say in response to this, is actually a question and a demand at once. Read carefully- it's in the last lines:

Revelation by Robert Frost

We make ourselves a place apart
Behind light words that tease and flout,
But oh, the agitated hear
Till someone really find us out.

'Tis pity if the case require
(Or so we say) that in the end
We speak the literal to inspire
The understanding of a friend.

But so with all, from babes that play
At hid-and-seek to God afar,
So all who hide too well away
Must speak and tell us where they are.

Tell me, what is there to gain from this?
