So I shifted the gear in my car
    It's an automatic
So I just shifted it from park
    To drive
    I sometimes wish I had a manual
    That would give me a little . . .
    Something
    Yeah

I pulled up to the store
I got that citrus green tea thing
And a pack of Marlboro Blues
I asked the guy how quickly are the "Blues" supposed to kill me
    He looked confused
It looked like he got something out from underneath the shelf or something
    I think I scared him
    So I giggled
And told him to have a good one

    Yeah
    Got lost in Baltimore
I guess there are shitty parts to every city
    But not like this
I tried not to pay attention
    Just another trip

    Jopo . . . or Jopa . . . who cares
That'll take me to the 695
    That's what I need

    I like driving endlessly sometimes
Why did I drive all the way to Baltimore though?
    Can't remember
    Got lost on purpose
    It's fun . . . sometimes
    Heading back now

    Thinking about Miss N
    God she is beautiful
The most incredible person I've ever met
    What did I do?
    Nothing
    Didn't know what to do

Probably will never see her again
She said we'll never see each other again
    I don't know
    If it's meant to be . . . .

    Ah "Exit"
    Recognizable street lights
It feels good to be close to home
    I turn up the radio
Light up one of those "Blues"
And take it nice and slow
    No particular place to go

I love this, I can not add to what has already been saidm but my favorite part is : I like driving endlessly sometimes

Really feel like I'm in the passenger seat when I read this, watching it all happen.
    Good job.

A nice ramble. I really have missed out on your work. I am glad that after months of not being on this site, I made it back. Keep up the great work and I am still working my way through your stuff. You have been busy writing!

Oh wow, this is a great one. Okay, well to start I like how humbly you put yourself out there in this, the character is a very down to earth kind of guy in a world where people are more goal oriented and distracted, but he has the upper hand, I got that from the situation with the gas attendant. The reference to the green tea, that was something I think I could relate to. I like the situation this guy is in, a very metaphoric one that parallels the journey of life, like you don't know why you are driving to Baltimore and you get lost and then you just try to get through it and eventually you get back on course, I think this was a brave thing. I think this was something great just because it was true with nature and the style and the sense of humor were really a compliment to you as the writer. I loved it Sol. Love love love it.

Very nice...In tune with modern poetic styles, and you've got a good grasp of form....you frame your sentences really well.
In a way, your poem really reminds me of some of the stuff by Philip Larkin...do check out a few of his poems...might give you some inspiration.
    Keep writing.
