dotsA Friendly Girl From the Bronxdots
    -------------------------------------------

I had a random chat today
    With a friendly girl
    From the Bronx
    She talked of the way
    The buildings tickled the sky
    And how the runners
    Ruin central park for everyone
    She spoke softly
About the sheer size of it all
While looking up at the sky
    From the center of Manhattan
    She said she loved poetry
And that I should dedicate to her a poem
    And so
    I dedicate this simple poem……
To a friendly girl from the Bronx

I like this. And I understand what she means by the runners ruining central park, Having been there two weeks ago.
But I also think central park is ruined deep down. the superficial feel of it. it may be old, but only a meagre part of it is actual... the rest is buldozed as is the rest of human civilization....i am going to make a story of central park.....look..your creativity is inviting...

It's amazing how sometimes the most random things inspire our muse.

The free verse style of this piece, as well as the climbing stepladder look, appeal to me very much.

I have to read more of your works, if it's all like this, I'm hooked!

i think sometimes the best poems are the random ones, you have a thought, or just imagine some little thing or like hear ,a short conversation.and it works, no sweating over lines or rhymes for hours and hours, just tell it like it was.i thought it was like a "calm" soft poem then the line

    And how the runners
Ruin central park for everyone. like i could see joggers running by interupting the quiet peaceful conversation you both were having, i like these poems short simple but sweet.
    thanks for sharing
    bye

I love the way you took something so simple, and made it into art. I do favor this poem, it's very nonchalant but upbeat. I also love free verse, so this is def. marked as a favorite!
