I feel stupid when I read master poets and writers. I s'pose we all really need to find out why we write and who we are writing to and for.

Discouragement in the face of grandiose works by our neighbors will only stifle our own true ability to create much more beautiful things.

T’is not our place to compare our dreams with theirs.

Our job lies solely in bringing forth the impossibilities of our thoughts, oblivious to whether or not the others have performed far better than us. It lies in stringing together the unreachable in a universe far beyond our true grasp.

Let us not write to overcome others, but to overcome ourselves.

the way the thoughts form and travel downward; mind,tongue,fingers,ink, for me is surely different than the next. thats the way it should be. one of the best things about poetry is the way it takes shape for different people, the way two people can read the same words and come to completely seperate conclusions.
thats the way it should be too.
anyway, i concur with the first part about comparisons being stifling, too true.
i say; let the words form how they do for you and if there is heart behind them, well, thats when magic can take place.

  i liked this, your poem is fact, i read somewhere that poetry is not about self expression but rather self discovery. seems like you have discovered your self.(as you have stated in your last line)

  yes ....i know what you mean i feel the same way when i read others peoples poetry . certain ones more than others but i do know what your talking about but in all truth everyone feels that way because there's always someone out there thats better than you

or simple gets he point across clearer so that they understand that person more...now what happens to the person that is better than me and you i don't know but i'm guessing he doesnt have that many friends counting on how much he brags ....lol
