Isabel Armand and Darrien De-Grimsoul shared a connection in their mind. They often spoke using non-verbal communication. Calming and reassuring each other. Through this connection Darrien showed Isabel what he had shown no one else. All the centuries worth of his memories. She embraced his memories as they were her very own. She didn't cast him out when he showed her what he must do to bring her into his world. Isabel embraced Darriens gift fully and with no regrets. Through this connection Darrien also learned that Isabel was a necromancer whose powers had not yet been awakened. He was hoping that through the process of marrying her and binding her to him that her powers would awaken. Isabel was the link he needed to finish the mission his sister had been killed doing. A way to permanently destroy the vampyre's one enemy;the lycan.
The wedding was to be a small event performed at a manor near where Isabel and Darrien would reside. A priest was present to authenticate the wedding. Since the marriage was between a vampyre and a human a special ritual was needed so the human could be fully brought into the vampyre realm. The human must be willing though or the wedding would not be sucessful. The priest present to join Isabel and Darrien was a worn looking man who had peppered hair and a friendly demeanor. Darrien dressed in a suit of deep burgundy, his waist length golden hair pulled tight, was waiting patiently with the priest for Isabel. Isabel was wearing a gown of burgundy silk that reached her feet, a broach of rubies the color of blood was at her throat, and her usually unruly and unkempt raven hair was gathered upon her head as if it were a jeweled crown. As Darrien watched Isabel approach a single thought invaded his mind. As she took her place beside him Darrien shared the thought with her.
"A beauty like no else Pequina, you capture my beating heart with every breath, each and every embrace we share. I shall hold you above all else and harm that which brings harm to thee. You know what's to come now darling please do not be frightened." Darrien sent with the thought a tender kiss upon her forehead. Her laughter filled his mind as she answered back.
"Frightenend? You underestimate me greatly Darrien. Whatever am I to do with you?"
"My answer pequina is simple. Stand beside me in darkness and in light, be the life of my heart, the warmth that chases the cold and circulates my blood. Be my light, the goodness to my evil is what I would like you to do." He sent her a caress as the priest started speaking.
"The ritual of binding is simple. I will say the binding words that will open the mind connection you share. Each of you will have to repeat the words before the connection will open. I will then slice one of each of your palms and you will hold each others hands. Darrien your blood mixing with Isabels blood will invoke the words, cementing the binding so the only way to sever the binding is through death of one or both of you." The priest took one of their hands in each of his as he said the words that would bind them forever.
"I claim you as my light, I belong to you. I offer my life for you. I give you my protection, my allegiance, my heart and my body. I take into my keeping the same that is yours. Your life, happiness and welfare will be cherished and placed above all others for all time. You are my light bound to me for eternity and always in my care.Darrien when you repeat the binding words please refer to Isabel as your light. Isabel when you repeat the words please refer to Darrien as your darkness. For there must be two halves present to unite into a whole."
Isabel turned facing Darrien as he spoke the words that would bind them in eternity. Darrien took Isabels other hand in his free hand as he spoke the words to her. Isabel felt the stirring in her mind slowly growing stronger as Darrien said the last words.Isabel still grasping Darriens hand then repeated the words. Darrien felt the same strengthening in their connection. The priest then took a dagger he'd had beside him and sliced both of their upturned palms. Darrien grasped Isabels cut hand and the second their blood met the connection between them burst open. They both let out an audible gasp as for the first time they saw life through each other's eyes. Isabel felt Darrien stirring in her mind.
"Darling the pain of our blood mixing will soon fade. It won't last long I promise. You can now feel everything I feel. We are almost truly one person. We're connected more closely then a mortal marriage would have bound us. You've come this far pequina. Are you truly ready for what must come next?"
"Love, that is a most foolish question! If I feel what you feel then the reverse must be true. Use the connection to answer your question."
Darrien looked deep into Isabel's blue eyes seeing her mind had not changed. She was still willing to accept his gift openly. It's the reassurance he needed. When Darrien looked away and at their hands still entwined he felt the tug of their skin threading itself back together. They turned towards the priest thanking him for the aide in marriage. Isabel and Darrien each kissed one of the priests hands as they bid him farewell. They turned and left the manor. The priest watched as Darrien and Isabel climbed into a horsedrawn carriage.
The carriage took Darrien and Isabel to a nearby manor in Warwickshire the manor that Darrien had chosen for them to live in. Darrien was lost in thought when he felt Isabel in his mind.
"What has you so troubled love?" She sent a gentle caress with her words. Darrien hugged her close to his body and spoke aloud.
"The coming events. Darling you know waht must happen next. You've seen it in my mind. I want to make sure everything is as comfortable as it can be. I don't want to cause more pain than is necessary."
"If your afraid I'm going to suddenly change my mind because of a bit of pain. You're fretting in vain. I know you must feed from me 7 times and I from you 7 times before the change can begin, we've each fed six times already. I know after I've taken your blood for the 7th time, the pain will start. All my internal organs will transform. My eyes will become ultra sensitive to light as well as my skin. I also know my hearing and sense of smell will increase. My mouth will bleed as my teeth lengthen giving me fangs. I'm ready you've made sure I'm not going through this clueless and I'm glad. I love you Darrien. I'll do anything it takes to be with you forever." Isabel took Darriens hand in hers and cuddled closer. Darrien cleared his throat and spoke again planning on telling her of the dormant necromancer blood in her. Hoping that it wouldn't cause her to change her mind.
"Through our connection you learned everything about me right Isabel? Well the same is true for me. I learned everything about you. One thing in particular surprised me though." He brought her hand to his mouth and kissed it.
"Darrien what did you find out?" Isabel tilted her head up so she had a clear view of his face as he told her.
"I found that lying dormant in you is the blood of a necromancer. Bringing you into the vampyre realm might awaken the powers of necromancy in you. If that is so, the turning will be more painful then just turning a human." He let his regret for holding the information back show on his face. Her laughter shocked him as she spoke again.
"That is what you saw? You thought I had not known I have necromancy in my blood? I have known since I was a babe. My mother and father shared stories of our ancestory with me all the time. My Grandmother Bellatrix Armand was a necromancer. It skipped my fathers generation and it now lies dormant in me. Still I want to be with you Darrien, no matter how much pain is involved." She smiled as she looked at Darrien.
"I had thought you didn't know is all. Foolish it was now that I doubted telling you, afraid that you would change your mind."
"Darrien it is not the pain that will bother me; it's the adjusting after words that will bother me." Darrien sensing her distress kissed her again and spoke to her in a whisper.
"Pequina the thing you miss most is the very thing that will kill you if you do not adjust properly. The first days are hard. Food will repulse you. Stick to natural fruit juices as much as possible and eventually you'll be able to absorb nutrients from both solid foods and from blood. I think it best that we wait to exchange blood in the time before sun up. So you can sleep through the worst of the pain." Isabel nodded her head as she watched the trees through the window.
The carriage stopped in front of a building with white stucco paint clinging to the outside. Darrien helped Isabel from the carriage, proceeding to tell the horseman to board the horse for the night and take his leave. Darrien picked Isabel up and carried her to the front door of the manor. He knocked on the door twice and stepped back. A servant dressed all in white opened the door. His black hair brushed his collar as he bowed to Darrien and Isabel.
"Good evening, master and mistress welcome home." He spoke with an accent that was unfamiliar to Isabel. He stepped aside allowing Darrien entrance.
"Thank you Maurice, your services will not be required again until sun down. You're free to do as you please for the rest of the night and day." Maurice smiled and bowed again.
"Thanks master. I will sleep and then pay a visit to the Twilight Tavern. I'll drink a pint or two and chase the ladies."Both Darrien and Isabel could not contain their laughter as Darrien spoke kindly to Maurice.
"Chase them all you want Maurice but one day they'll be chasing you so be careful."
"Oh I will master and mistress. Good day. I'll be back before sundown so I can have everything ready for when you wake." Maurice gave one more deep bow before closing the door on his way out. Darrien carried Isabel over to the chair in front of the fire. He brushed his fingertips against her lips as he whispered in her mind.
"You're not fully changed yet love. So that means you've not eaten all day. I can feel the hunger taking it's toll. What is it that you would like love?" Isabel laughed and spoke out loud.
"There are plenty of things I would like. Why don't you surprise me? While I change out of this dress and let my hair down." Darrien chuckled and kissed her forehead as he went into the kitchen to prepare Isabel a surprise. While Darrien was busy in the kitchen, Isabel wondered up the staircase stopping every so often to inspect the pictures hanging on the walls.
