    Our Towns Story

He just corrected a birth defect.
    Rumors flew!
You seem more animated, more alive,
Than you had been in years,
He was the talk of the town.
Nothing he or anybody could ever say or do,
was ever enough to just stop and let him be.
The place seemed infested with rum and ruin.
There were so many of you,
    Judging so harshly.
    But, just look at you!
You are the ones who will never have balls enough to do what he did.
You cower in conformity and silent complicity
To you, his life was something you destroy and "win." Like a hunting trophy.
    You tracked him with bloodhounds.
You stabbed and sliced his neck, laughing and hooting and hollering the Rebel cry.
    You went to jail
    but you have yet
    to take any real responsibility
    for what you did.
You believe murder is OK as long as you do it.
One of those queers deserves what they get.
You'll have PLENTY of time to think about it.
Hatred is not a FAMILY VALUE.

I often wondered how come changing your sex or gender is so dangerous, socially, when you can change your nationality, your profession, your religion, your face, your social life, your political alignments, etc, without too many people wanting to persecute you?

Then I realized that long ago, nobody could do any of those things safely. Maybe we are slowly getting more like humans?

I was reading about Humanity recently and I decided it would be an interesting experiment, if somewhat risky!

your poem contains a sad theme.trans-sexuality.funny i watched a documentry the other week on this theme.these people are really born in the wrong "body", in a sense they are living in a cage.years ago they couldn,t do anything to break-out.nowadays there are operations to "free " them from their prisons.
in other cases there are babies born with both male and female sexual parts.what happens then?the doctors consult the parents and then they make a desiscion.and sometimes they make the wrong desiscion.and this person grows up in the wrong body.i think it is only right that they should have a chance to live in the "right" body.but unfortunately not everybody thinks like that.that,s our so.called society.i enjoyed the poem, it got me thinking.
    take care

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
