Sophie walked slowly down the white marble stairs. Below her men and women moved in circles dancing, flaming red and arctic blue dresses moved about, black and white tuxedos guided them through the ritualistic steps. One man, however, caught her eye. He was standing on the other side of the red and blue sea. He wasn't wearing a tuxedo, he looked like some kind of prince charming with the blue sash over his dark purple uniform. The mask he wore had a shorter nose than the others ans was decorated with dark red and black swirls. He looked at her, she found herself walking into the horde of dancers. They met and immediately began dancing. "I was drawn to you..." Her innocent voice was at a whisper. "Of course you were." She could see the sinister smile on his face.
They danced, and they danced, and they danced. She was nearly limp as he carried her across the dance floor. Somehow, everyone had disappeared. The red and blue tiled floor, the golden columns, the stain glass dome above them. His eyes, they were different, they were red. They looked as if they held the secrets of hell itself, he was dark, that was easy to see. He was sinister, he was evil...and she liked it.
An eternity had passed but, for some reason, age had not attacked her. She could feel the cold of his body mix with the warmth of hers even though cloth separated them both. She wanted him, but he did not want her. She so desperately wanted this to end, for them to carry this dance to the next stage, but Gods like to toy. Finally they stopped and the room filled with life once more. His fangs stared back at her, a dark purple rose tucked into her dress. "Embrace the madness sweet child." and with that she was alone amongst the sea of red and blue once more. |
