dotswhen you find me in treesdots
    -------------------------------------------

    if i skin a tree
& place the shavings on my tongue
it doesn't make me a dog.
    though when i spit,
the bark does come out of my mouth.

    what i am
    is a collage of ingredients
    collected from the forest floor.
    i am eyes looking back
    on myself from afar.

    & i have this charm
    as the wood does,
    this ancient presence
    in the world
    burnt of ash,
    & glowflies
    & the soil.

when you find me in trees
it's because i was born there.
    because my cut arm
is an oak in the moonlight.
    my breath
    is the old longing
    of the wind.

    i stretch into everyone
    the missing words
    of restless evenings
    in the dark.
    & in my absence,
    my fingers
    leave you waiting.

the first part, i'm unsure if you intended it to be funny but it is. while it does have a charm, almost feels not needed. or maybe parenthesis, making it kind of an intro/side note kind of thing.
anyway, this has a quiet yet strong voice and seems to be well thought out.
favorite part would have to be "i am eyes looking back on myself from afar."
very out of body ish. almost like maybe the spirit/soul is leading the way while keeping an eye on things over one shoulder...
    what i take from anyway.
