Quiet and I’ll tell you a secret: There’s a hole between my legs,
dark and painful. I went down to the edge of the river,
a pebble in my mouth, I lay upon cold stones willing my flesh
to blend into the heavy shifting green. I cursed the moon for gleaming
off my paleness so vividly. This is where my heart exploded.
Carefully I collected and wrapped the pieces in Ivy leaves,
then gave it to my father.
