Description: this is about an elderly man who lived his whole life and got more wise and stronger, but never figured out the meaning of life? so standing at the sunset he attempts to communicate with God, but fails, and feels the only way to truly find out is to die, and he tries to drown himself, but he is rescued by human's natural instinct to help fellow wo/man(ironically, unfortunately in his case). He awakes in the hospital bed hooked up to i.v's, and hears the doctors saying something (they are conversing about his numbered days on earth. his old age has consumed him, they are determining whether or not to "pull the plug?" and this is again ironic, because it's the happiest day of his life just knowing that he'll die and figure out the meaning of life). The subtext implies that he believes he will be reincarnated as a child in the next life after he 'checks in' with God.

Twice Upon the Womb/? -------------------------------------------
Fingers like a worn out, faded paperback book, so tired
He paints the sky,
He wonders why?
Toes sink into quicksand, thick clay
The waves then captured his feet
and carried him away...
"Seagulls pass my face
I hear them screaming something
(It sounds like ...)
I thought I heard them call my name,
So I followed their voices
But I never came,
As the seagulls pass my face
I wonder, when will I ever get to sleep?"
He was rushed right in
Rescued from the answer, taken
from his question
Now on this bed
He's being tube fed
"All I wanna do is know,
It's all I ever wanna know"
The entrance looks
Just like the exit
"And all i wanna do is know,
It's all I ever wanna know."
"Recovery brings questions without answer,
I had to ask again, receiving no reply,
I ponder, but nothing is evident in this life
You will never know being alive,
sleep or die..."
"Eyes and blue masks pass my face,
I hear them saying something
(it sounds like...)
I thought I heard them call my name
So I answered them,
But those words never came,
Eyes and blue masks pass my face
I shut my eyes and go to sleep"
Going out the same way that he came in
He is hooked up to a cord
The exit looks
just like then entrance
"All i wanna do is know,
It's all i ever want to know.
so squeeze my eyelids shut
so i can open them back up,
It's all i ever want to know..."
Wow. Very deep, are these words set to music? Sounds like it would make a great song. Anyhoo...I really liked it. My interpretation of it was about a guy who was in the hospital with not a lot of hope, and thinking that life may be indeed a little pointless....if this is not what you were trying to communicate let me know. Twas a great read/write.
