The truth is;
There is no real silence.
When I turn off the words
I can still hear my thoughts.
Louder than presidential speeches
They saturate my mind
Drowning out
The hushed tones of silence
That whisper on the periphery
Of our existence.
True silence cannot exist
Where mortal creatures tread,
As we cannot bear a void,
And find ourselves
With an all consuming need
To fill it with something,
With anything,
Anything, except silence. |
