I sometimes wonder about the tree falling in the forrest making a sound.

    The truth is;
    There is no real silence.
When I turn off the words
I can still hear my thoughts.
    Louder than presidential speeches
    They saturate my mind
    Drowning out
    The hushed tones of silence
    That whisper on the periphery
    Of our existence.
    True silence cannot exist
    Where mortal creatures tread,
As we cannot bear a void,
    And find ourselves
    With an all consuming need
    To fill it with something,
    With anything,
    Anything, except silence.

So true. I really enjoyed this. I can relate to where your coming from in this piece. There really is no such thing as silence. Even when we aren't thinking, there's the buzzing in our ears, the blood pumping through our veins that we can hear if it's quite enough. You did a very good job putting those thoughts into poetic piece of art.

Very profound, Jerilynn! Truth is, there is communication, even in silence, and even silence communicates something! Sometimes, silence is the loudest of all!!

There is a spiritual mood that is appealing to this, as well as an interesting and profound message! Excellent work!

I have an old post at my site titled "The Sound of Silence"!
