Todd sat up and turned on the bed. He stood up and stretched, letting out one big yawn. He stood up greeting the rays of yellow sunlight that seeped through the blinds illuminating his pale body. He turned around and watched Ray sleep on the bed, the twenty-two year old olive skinned figure's chest moving up and down lightly. They were the same age, but only two months apart. Ray's short black hair contrasted Todd's long scruffy brownish-red hair perfectly. Ray's deep brown eyes slowly opened meeting Todd's gray. "Morning already?" His voice was somewhat distorted by a slight yawn that escaped from his mouth. "Late morning by the looks of it." Todd leaned onto the bed and kissed Ray's forehead, smiling at him. "I thought last night would never end." Ray turned on his side, pulling Todd onto the bed and resting his arm on him. "I've got work to do today, I won't be back until late...nine maybe." Todd's voice was softer now, he was comfortable with Ray clinging to him. "Thats alright, you'll be beat...but of course I can change that." Rays face rested on Todd's back. "When do you have to leave?" Tod got up taking both of Ray's hands, which were once clinging to him, and kissing them, setting them on the bed. "Now..." Ray just smiled at Todd as he walked off into the bathroom.
Roughly ten minutes later Todd emerged from the bathroom, wearing his uniform. He was security for their community, he had on his fatigues, his Kevlar vest, and on his back the butt of his rifle was showing. He walked towards the door and gave Ray a wink. "See you tonight." And with that, he was out the door. His apartment overlooked the main entrance to the walled compound. Beyond the main gate was a sea of gray, the undead. Groaning and scratching at the wall, futile attempts to break into the safety of the compound. And beyond that sea, the remnants of a once great civilization known as Las Vegas. |
