As Aila was in the bathroom, Jordan let himself into her apartment. He came up behind her and stood leaning against the frame of the door. Jordan had a mocking smile on his lips as he watched her wipe her mouth. "Hard night?" He asked with a chuckle. Aila turned quickly back to the toilet and vomited again. Jordan looked concerned and in a fast smooth movement came up behind her and held her hair away from her face. "Wow. How much vodka did you drink last night?" Jordan inquired, studying her face as she leaned back on her heels. "Not that much. God!" Aila said aggravated. She closed her eyes only for a moment only to see the image of the body she had taken down the previous night. Aila opened her eyes to her delight Jordan was still there, his hazel eyes and dirty blond hair; He looked like he had never done anything evil in his entire life. But she knew he did, just as she had. Jordan took her arm and pulled her to a stand. "Come on, you need rest." He said walking her to the couch. As soon as he let Aila sit she laid down on a throw pillow and he covered her with the blanket that draped over the back of the piece of furniture. Jordan snatched up the remote and hit the power button and "killing" the T.V. "The news is complete shit lately." He said turning and looking back at Aila. Jordan laid next to her on the couch and tucked some of her strawberry blond hair behind her ear. "It's not as bad as it seems. When you wake up everything is not going to be so hard. Ok?" Jordan said kissing her forehead. Aila nodded and buried herself against him with a few sniffles. Aila woke up occasionally only to see if Jordan was still there and to make her fists tighter around the fabric of his gray T-shirt. Soon she fell asleep completely and Jordan was able to sneak out; He left her to dream without him. Aila slept through the rest of the afternoon and night to wake up late for work the next morning. As Aila scrambled to get her makeup and clothes on, she thought over and over the last few weeks. She began to cry from missing Jordan and had to keep wiping away her tears so her eyeliner wouldn't run. The drive to her office was depressing, and Aila knew her day was going to be hell. At times like this she was glad she was only part time and it was summer so she didn't have to go to the university. |
