Everyday I hear people
smiling excitedly and counting down the days
5, 4 and now 3 months left they say
Most say it with confidence
like they know that they're going to do
Others say it with a sort of exited nervousness
All thinking of the day that they will be free
free from their parents
free from the places that they feel confined
free from the constant pressure to be perfect
Excitedly looking forward to the next step
College, jobs or traveling
looking towards the future with a feeling of awe and almost but not quite nausea
wondering what life's going to bring
now that they are almost but not quite
high school graduates
