I canít wait to learn how to fly. I want to be able to see the sun floating on mountains of clouds. I wish to be above it all. Ride on air as if it were as simple as swimming in water. Pink stained sky, warm yellow sun, clouds that reflect the colors around it and pure air. I canít wait to learn how to fly. Iím going to stretch out my arms and laugh the most absurd laughter you have ever heard. Iím going to shout something incoherent at the top of my lungs. I will be a sky creature. Nothing chains me to the earth. Iíll drink the rain as it falls and feed off freedom. I canít wait to fly. No planes, no futuristic jet pack, no wings. Just me. Just me.
ďIíve been calling your name for the past minute.Ē
And I crash down to earth.
I canít wait to master living under water. I donít need air, I donít need eye protection, I donít need to worry about deep pressures. Just gliding in bliss of colorful fish and sunlight that penetrates the surface. Untouchable, no threat can reach me for I am friends with the shark, the squid, Nessy, and the kraken. Explore sunken ships and just drift on. Gazing up at the refection of light and being hypnotized by it. Iíll sing with whales, and play with dolphins. Dance with jelly fish and travel with sea turtles. I am a water creature. Everything I need, everything I want is under the blue. Maybe Iíll wave to the occasional glass bottom boat, to humans who attempt to achieve what I have. Iíll let them study and envy Ė but they cannot catch me. Like Poseidon I rule the ocean. I rule the seas; I rule any body of water that is seen they canít catch me. I am powerful, I am free!
ďAriel, are you sure youíre okay?Ē
And I resurface.
I smile, but what would these humans do without me?
