Description:

Your Scent, a Villanelle

I cannot unearth one scent that isn’t you,
Forever enveloping my green environed room,
An addict, your essence I shall never subdue,

When our smiles took root, a drought would ensue,
And the sun would make space for shadows to gloom,
I cannot unearth one scent that isn’t you,

Slowly growing into stories we once knew,
Our pages sheared, for they would never bloom,
An addict, your essence I shall never subdue,

Silently, our garden shades from red to dark blue,
Our freedom is saturated; passion becomes a tomb,
I cannot unearth one scent that isn’t you,

A leaf from an oak, the coldness turns me true,
As I spin and I sway, slowly falling to my doom,
An addict, your essence I shall never subdue,

We slip and we stumble on this new morning dew,
Furiously digging, hoping our dreams will exhume,
I cannot unearth one scent that isn’t you,
An addict, your essence I shall never subdue.
