Progressing thoughts on Selflessness.

Thoughts on Selflessness.

At the core of the Universe is Selfless Relationship.

This in turn makes "Selfishness" the antithesis of existence.

How many of us suffer from being entirely too self-indulgent? Too Self-centered? Too self-focused?

Is the fact that we are too caught up in pleasing ourselves the essence of our perpetual dissatisfaction?

Strikingly enough, the quick assumption here might be that in order to fill the longings within our souls we might indeed have to stop focusing on ourselves, and instead turn the focus to others.

In our giving there is receiving.

And therein is the mystery of God. Everything is backwards, and it is absolutely Beautiful.

The Gospel is good news because it constantly emboldens us to take the brave step of Trusting God, and all His ways. The essence of following God is boiled down to Love. Selfless Love toward the one who has given us the gift of life, and selfless love toward the people of this world.

Even the annoying ones.
The smart-alocs.
The cheaters.
The liars, and the gossipers.
The Lost...
The broken..
The hurting...
The lonely...

I would argue that, "Indifference" is the equivalent of, "Hate."

And Love is by far superior to Hate. We are born with an immense capacity for both. And it seems as though all of life we determine little by little which one we will choose. Christ cries out for us to Trust Him and abandon our selfish survival tactics. He shouts into our hearts the revolutionary truth that if we abandon ourselves, only then will we indeed find ourselves. If we choose Love, we are choosing Life.

Selflessness breeds selflessness.

Selfishness breeds selfishness.

At the center of our Universe is a union between the Holy Trinity of God. And that union is built upon a joyful celebration of selfless relationship.

This is a small glimpse of what you were made for.
