Two Step -------------------------------------------
the little box radio
sat atop the tall dresser
I could only see
a small part of it
music played in familiar tones
Mama went about her chores
she cleaned and cooked
humming her favorite ones
songs of the country
soothed this Texas girl
when I was eight
we were given to my Dad
she found a new man
and we were in the way
that was the last time
I saw her I was eight
my old man listened to
the western tunes
he played them on
his guitar and sang
I learned to play
that six string box
and fell in love
with a new sound
when my group practiced
at our house
he made fun and complained
we fought about it so much
that I stopped liking
those songs of old
I still have a hard time
with it though him and I
made amends my Mother and I
never talked about it
it and other things
are left hanging
but I miss my Ma.....
