CHAPTER SEVEN
Jaiden walked out the door and into the cool night air. He gazed up at the sky, watching it as dark clouds rolled in. He clenched his fist untill his nails bit into his skin, drawing blood.
"It's my power. I will use it to destroy them."
He reached deep inside himself and pulled forth the dark energy. A sudden pain burned his shoulder blades and he gasped. He heard his skin rip as two great bat wings erupted from his shouder blades.
They flapped causing a huge breeze to blow. Cars slid across the streets and Jaiden slowly rose into the air. Anger boiled in his gut, and he was blinded by a deep hatred.
He hurtled through the dark sky toward the church. He ignored what was happening around him. The only thing he knew was that Simon had to die.
The church was begining to come into view. The tall white cross was peeking over the trees and buildings. He accelerated untill he was hovering over the building. His wings pulled back into him and he dropped on the roof.
He walked over to the edge and dropped three stories to the ground. His demonic body protected him from the shock and Jaiden walked over to the door. It was locked. He walked through the glass as though it were air. He suddenly caught the scent of humans. He sniffed the air and looked up. They were upstairs.
Jaiden walked the ground floor. He came to a staircase. One set went up and one set went down. He was about to go upstairs when an even darker aura caught his attention. It was demonic. It was coming from downstairs.
'Strange. Something is not right.'Jaiden told himself.
He decended the stairs slowly. The aura grew stronger. He was in the basement. Jaiden smelled blood. Human blood. He looked up at the ceiling. Someone had been drug across the ceiling. Jaiden followed the trail. He came to a large boiler room. He opened the door. There were two bodies in the room. And there were three demons feasting on them.
They were built of black ash and hollowed eyes. One turned to Jaiden and screeched a high pitched warning. It rose, it's body erupting in flames. Jaiden took a step back, then he smiled. Simon wasn't here, but why not trash a few demons? He held his hand up, his nails growing longer and incredibly sharp. The one demon made a grab for him but he ducked and dug his shapr nails into it's stomach. He then thrust his arm up, opening the demon. It fell to the ground, and Jaiden quickly made for the other two. He slashed out with his hand, slicing open the demon's throat. It's head fell back, barely hanging on. Jaiden noticed there was no blood.
"I see, you can't be killed like this. Only slowed down."He said. His nails shrank back to normal.
He racked his brain, trying to remember how to kill them. He suddenly remembered and ducked out of the room, avoiding the newly arisen demon he had dealt with minutes ago. He raced through the basement, Flames close behind, until he found what he was looking for. Old pipes hung above his head. he smiled and turned to the Flames, which were closing in. He reached up, and with demonic strength, pulled them apart. Water casquaded out of the pipes and onto the ashy demons. They gave screeching cries as they fell apart. The water turned black as the ashes of the dead demons spread.
"Now that that's over, I shouldn't keep those humans waiting."
He walked up the basement stairs and back to the stairwell. He asended the stairs and reached the second floor. The scent of humans was strong. Jaiden saw noone, and decided to inspect the rooms. He opened the first one, empty. He closed the door and moved onto the next one. Empty. The one at the end of the hall caught his attention. He walked down the hall to it. The sign on the door read Staff Room. He reached for the handle, but stopped when he heard voices. He listened intently.
"So, how are we going to get ahold of Jaiden? He keeps slipping through our fingers!"An angry voice asked.
"Calm down."Jaiden recognized Simon's voice."The demon in him has already awakened. He will come here eventually, to destroy Desilus and I."
'He figured it out.'Jaiden thought.
"Besides,"Simon continued."He will reveal himself anyway. I've sent some demons after his friends. I've no doubt he'll try to save them. When he does, we'll grab him then."
"How will we contain him once we catch him?"
"Well, i'm sure we'll find some helpful demon lord to keep ahold of him for a while."Simon said, amusement in his voice.
'What other demon lord, besides Uliara?'Jaiden thought.'If they kept me with her, Uliara would kill me.'
Jaiden pulled away from the door. What could he do? There were demons after his friends. If he saved them, he risked being captured and held. If he let them die, then.....
"Where are Grant and Molly?"Jaiden could hear the frusteration in Simon's voice.
"Should we send someone to check on them?"A woman asked.
"I suppose so. They could be having trouble with Jaiden."
Before they could do anything, Jaiden opened the door and strode in. Silence embedded itself in the room as Jaiden took a seat across from Simon and smirked.
"Happy to see me?"
Simon raised an eyebrow."Yes, I am. What are you doing here? Where are your parents?"
"Guess."
Simon paused for a moment."You...killed them?"
"Yeah, I did. Oh well though, they deserved it."
Simon noted that Jaiden's whole personality was begining to change. Was it because of the demon? Had it done something to him? Was he now the demon? Simon nodded at one of the men. The man got up and locked the door.
"So, why are you really here?"Simon asked, his attention back on the teenager in front of him.
"Well, I came to strike a deal."
"A deal?"
"Yeah. See, this whole ordeal has really begun to piss me off. I also heard you sent some demons after my friends. Call them off, and I won't kill you."
"Kill me?"
"Well, not slowly anyway. I plan on killing you, deal or no deal."
"So what's the point?"
"If there's a deal, you die fast and painless. No deal, and you die slowly and with more pain than you can imagine."
"I'm afraid I can't agree to your terms."Simon sighed.
"Why not?"Jaiden asked, anger inching it's way into his voice.
"I don't control the demons. Desilus does."
Jaiden couldn't speak for a moment. He hadn't expected this."W-what do you mean? He's in Hell, he can't possibly-"
"As long as I summon them, he can control them. The closer we get to your birthday, the stronger he gets."
The man beside Jaiden laughed."Too bad! Weren't expecting that, were you punk?"
Jaiden glared at him. He stood and grabbed the man by the throat and dug his nails into the man's flesh. His fingers hit the arteries and blood began to spurt out. Jaiden wrenched his hand away, taking the man's throat with it. The man sank to the floor with blood still spurting out and running down his front. One of the woman screamed and ran to the man.
She looked up at Jaiden."YOU KILLED HIM! YOU KILLED MY HUSBAND!"She shrieked.
"Perhaps you'd like to join him."Jaiden said, grabbing the woman's head and twisting it, snapping her neck. She drooped to floor, next to the man.
Noone moved a muscle. Jaiden grinned at them."You're next. I'm going to kill every one of you."
"Your days are limited Jaiden."
Jaiden crossed the room. He leaned across the table, his face inces away from Simon's."Because of you, I have been chased, forced to hide, possessed, I killed my parents, blew up someones arm, and had a run in with Flames! I don't care that my days are limited! I will kill everyone here before my days are up. Starting with you."Jaiden placed his hand over Simon's face, and pulled his life from him.
Suddenly, a force knocked Jaiden away from the body. He hit the wall and fell to the floor. When he looked up, everything was different. Simon's body was just a skeleton. The room's paint had peeled and darkened. The carpet was dark and grimy. Jaiden's demonic senses kicked in. Jaiden could smell lots of human blood. He could also sense the presence of a huge amount of demons.
Jaiden got to his feet and went over to the window. He froze at the sight of the outside. The sky was a bloody red, with black clouds dotting the skies. There were abandoned cars and dead bodies everywhere. The streets were tore up. All life, plant and animal, seemed non-existant. Something suddenly caught Jaiden's eye. In the middle of the parking lot, staring up at him, was a girl. The girl seemed familar to Jaiden, though he couldn't place her.
The woman had dark auburn hair, and tattered medieval clothes. Jaiden suddenly remebered seeing her in Mike's basement. She turned to leave and Jaiden paniced she would get away. He opened the window, and jumped out onto the parking lot. He coughed, noticing the air was heavy. The woman turned back to him. He walked over to her, until he stood in front of her.
"Are you Gwendolyn?"He asked.
She studied him for a minute before answering."Yes, I am."
"Where are we?"
"Hell. This is Desilus' Hell on earth."
"How did we get here?"
"Desilus knew you would be driven to kill Simon. In fact, he counted on it."
"Why?"
"So he could get you here. Here, you are bound by his rules. He will not harm you. Remember that. He needs you. By keeping you here, he hopes he can make you stay where you are acessable until he needs you on your eightteenth birthday."
"Can I get out of this place?"
"I am not sure. Perhaps, if you could get a Dreamer to send you back. They will latch onto a human's aura, and head back. Just follow it."
"Where are they?"
"At the middle of the world."
"Where is that?"
"I do not know. You will have to find out on your own."
"How?"
"The other Demon Lords are here. They will help you. Desilus is hated by all the other Lords. Trust them, but watch out Uliara."
"Okay."Jaiden walked forward, but stopped when he saw Gwendolyn wasn't following him."You're not coming?"
"No. I am staying."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Do not worry about me."
With a final glance back, Jaiden started of into Desilus' Hell. |
