I.
And so my friends,
the Journey's end.
How joyous it is to be here in the new land!
The many days we travelled
have left us weary.
Death followed close behind,
mocking our every step, waiting for us to fail.
But now, open your eyes and see!
How fat the land! How bright the sun!
Peace, the noon day song!
The hero, he brought us here.
His life was never valuable to him.
Cast out by those hating him, he searched long and hard
for the gift to heal their wounds.
Now they must weep in shame.
He returns with honour,
with kora.
And so my friends, we are now home.
And so my friends,
the Journey's end.
II.
As we rest our weary souls, we look to the night sky.
The Lord has smiled upon us.
The Journey is now over. True, this is a cause
for rejoicing, for much praise! But the tears come steadily.
Why do I cry? For we are now safe,
we have nothing to fear.
It is the hero. He is off again.
One Journey's end is another's beginning.
Feelings of gladness are joined by feelings of sorrow.
My heart has been lifted, but it has also been torn.
It is life. Life is happiness and misery.
I cling to him, begging him to stay.
This is not easy for him either.
"My face you shall not see for a long time.
I shall miss your spirit, the fire that rages within you.
You have proven yourself one of strength.
Now, continue strong. Do not cry much longer.
I shall return one day. This is my word,
and it shall not come to nothing. No, it will not fade away
until it has been fulfilled."
Oh hero! Farewell! Our hearts go with you!
And so my friends, our Journey ends.
Hero's begins. |
