    dotsThe Drowned Princessdots
    -------------------------------------------

    Upon the crenellated walls
I watch the pallid spirit float,
The night rings with sad madrigals,
That issue from her ashen throat.

She’s far above the haunted pool
Where long ago the princess drowned,
Now when the summer nights grow cool
All see her regal, palely gowned.

And when the moon has risen high
    Above the isolated keep
I hear her soft and poignant sigh
And softly does the princess weep.

She weeps for love that never was,
For combs through scented auburn hair,
The princess seems as frail as gauze,
Here in her moonlit sad despair.

No lips to her lips kiss or touch,
No loving looks the courtyards cross,
She’s suffered long and suffered much,
Here all is hollow, all is loss.

    Upon the crenellated walls
I watch the pallid spirit float
The night rings with sad madrigals,
That issue from her ashen throat.

How very tragic and sad, yet thoughtful.

The idea of a ghost lingering--reminiscing even, about their life is a truly unique angle to write the way that you have put it.

I wish that I could add more ygan that, but the readers before me have put it so well already.

    Wonderful job!

I hope I'm not being completely dumb here, but to me this is about the princess herself mourning her lost life.

I think that's an amazing perspective to write from.

Not to mention the gorgeous word choice that is nothing short of artistry. It's haunting, tragic, sad, wistful.

Amazingly written. Beautifully told. Painfully felt.

    GREAT JOB.

awe! that's sad! but i loved the poem... the way you paint a picture with your words, and all that jazz... it was beautiful, and i loved how you made it easy for the reader to feel the emotion in it... very good! :)

Well it was excellently written from start to the last stanza... this was where i felt it could have used another stanza before repeating the first but overall as i said it was very well written, the mood was excellent and the point was expertly delivered.

    Excellent

Bleak melancholy. You paint the mood and the atmosphere very well yet you never stray from the storyline you wish to lead the reader through and you successfully bring up the desired emotions with your ever masterful phrases that once again leave me mystified and ultimately enthusiastic. What could be the synonyms for these two words that haven't found their places in my knowledge of English yet: crenellated & madrigals?

How sad and absolutely romantic! Our hearts break for the ghost and remorse of the lovely princess. Another excellent write, with a ghostly hauntingly melancoly mood!
