Kara, Ben and Tristan kept themselves hidden for a long while. They all locked themselves into one bathroom that was "Out of order".
"How long are we going to stay here?" Tristan complained after a few hours, and her nap was long over.
"Until they tell us what to do.." Kara whispered, trying to keep the noise volume to a minimum, not just because they could be caught, but she also didn't really like loud noises.
Ben was asleep in the corner, he sat up, with his head resting on his left shoulder. His breathing was soft and steady, Kara concentrated on it to keep herself busy. Tristan hopped about the ceramic tiles, playing hop-scotch.
Ben stirred, and opened his eyes. "Mm, nothing.."
Kara nodded, then looked under the door as best she could. The light was off in the room across from the bathroom, and the hall light was still on, meaning it was night.
"It's night." Kara said aloud to the two. Tristan nodded.
"That's when they talk most."
Ben agreed, and the three sat in silence.
Escape..tonight..
Kara jumped a bit, almost like she had never heard the voices in her life, the difference was it was a voice she had never heard before.
"Let's go," Ben said, letting Tristan and Kara know that they had all got the message.
"How?" Tristan asked.
"To escape? I'm not sure, but they are going to help us somehow.. I know they are."
"OK." Tristan said happily. Kara hadn't thought about it but Ben's mother had probably come to see him, and got quite a fright about him missing.
The whole hospital might be in an uproar, she thought, not bothering to bring it up to Ben and Tristan. Ben might have already been aware.
The three tip toed through the halls, and dorm areas. They told Tristan they were playing spies, and that she had to be quiet.
Where they lie is the place to escape..
"Ben, do you have any idea what they just said means..?" Kara questioned, holding Tristan's hand tightly.
"I'm not sure.. I don't know who "they" are. Let's try the kitchen..I have a feeling."
Kara nodded, and the three took off once more.
They arrived in the kitchen quietly, without catching anyone's attention. A cool breeze took the three by surprise.
"Air," Kara said aloud.
"The window's open!" Tristan called in triumph.
The three ran over and took in the deep breath. They were located on the first floor. Kara was beginning to think all this wasn't just luck.
Ben crawled out first, then took Tristan, followed by Kara. The three looked about in the outside. Their clothes would easily be seen, and noticed.
"What should we do Ben?" Kara question, still holding Tristan's hand.
"I don't know, today was a long day. I think we should find some place to sleep for the night at least."
Tristan yawned, and rubber sleep from her eyes.
"Good idea," Kara agreed. Ben bent over and put Tristan on his back, she leaned her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes.
Kara and Ben would soon be free to talk about anything.
