free falling and its gnawing
at the very core of me

I'm interred as if I'm dead
by this slowly seeping dread
but I have and will do nothing
till my whole life I retread

reminisce and ruminate
throw back wide the close-shut gates
of my failure stash
as I come in last
in my lowly life-long race
