    dotsThe Bonnie Hills Of Homedots
    -------------------------------------------

Tonight I sit and gaze across
The calm and deep blue sea
I am many miles and far away
From where I long to be
From a land where eagles soar and fly
Where the deer and cattle roam
    Tonight my thoughts they manifest
To the bonnie hills of home

As I close my eyes I clearly see
    My mother in her chair
    I see my fatherís graveside
    With my brother standing there
The little stream it runs on by
    With choppy waves and foam
    Flowing gently all around
    The bonnie hills of home

    Children in the meadow play
    With an innocence so true
    Chasing all the butterflies
    Beneath a sky so blue
How time it seems to stand quite still
    Like a broken metronome
And sunny days they never end
In the bonnie hills of home

Just by the glade I see the girl
Who I miss and love so well
The feelings that I have for her
    No words could ever tell
I remember well the day we met
    By the little chapelís dome
And we spent that summer lost in love
By the bonnie hills of home

As tears they fall I now decide
    To go back without delay
    Ignoring all the reasons why
    I chose to go away
And when I return Iíll make a vow
    To never ever roam
Iíll live my life for evermore
By the bonnie hills of home

This is such a precious poem, it makes one homesick just reading it! The old saying "there's no place like home" never rings truer than when one is long and far away, and memories of homeland pry at the heart!

This delightful work captures the longings of the heart for one's true home, and the spirit is never at rest until one is there! Outstanding work, this! Thanks for sharing this with us!
