Stumbling through the darkness alone,
wondering if this was it,
something caught my eye,
in the gloom,
something lit,
There was an incandescent flame,
burning brighter than the sun,
enticing me, enthralling me,
beckoning me to come,
The closer that I got to it,
the light, it hurt my eyes,
yet I could not look away,
it's beauty hypnotised,
Soon I felt it's warming glow,
my heart felt it too,
could this be the one for me,
I prayed that it were true,
But like Icarus flying, higher and higher,
wanting more and more,
I reached too far, flew too high,
and came crashing to the floor,
The moral of this story is,
when your love is spurned,
next time when you touch a flame,
don't be surprised if you get burned. |
