when i wake up... -------------------------------------------
When I wake up some old woman is darning me socks
I'm somewhere near the sea; and all my bones are locked
And boats are drawing pictures in the water around me
And my little sister is in Kansas forgetting how I look
The colors I am breathing are far too saturated
My tongue is weighed way down in my throat
And my words are all ghosts without a home to haunt
And my mouth is the grave where their bodies rot
I'm falling apart at light speed diamonds
Pulling my hair out but at least I'm trying
To get a handful of something that feels solid
when i wake up i'll catch fire
When I wake up some old man is tonguing my wounds
Says "don't sleep here don't sleep here don't sleep here"
And birds are burning down newspaper skylines outside
And my mother is scared that I'll never come back alive
The colors I am hearing are eating from Eskimo bones
Some little girl is swallowing some oddly shaped stones
And I'm asleep but I'm awake but believe me when I say
And I'm alive or at least I try well I mean I try to be that way
I'm falling apart at light speed diamonds
Pulling my hair out but at least I'm trying
To get my heart around something that feels solid
To get my heart around something that feels solid
To get my life to sound like something that is solid
when i wake up i'll catch fire
when i wake up i'll catch fire
when i wake up i' am always on fire
