have you ever let back your head
and watched all the butterflies escape,
perhaps a pretty bluebird here or there?

and you never really liked butterflies incredibly more than the next person,
but now that you realize they're a part of your being you accept it and think,
    "that's cool".

and all of this only because you looked toward the sky and extended your arms.

I know this isn't the expected response, but:

    This piece is badass.

I like the simple, contemplative perspective you expose here for us to read.

And the word choice is perfect.

    Punctuation punctual.

yes i have learned to appreciate beauty. for i have been alone in my life for 5 years or so. although i normally feel grey on the inside, i do my best to let the color world sink into my mind.

Great poem, i liked the first verse of it.

I love the ending of this poem, but I feel that the middle lets it down a bit. It seems like the "all of this" you refer to in the last part isn't as much of a climax as it could be. The main reason for this is, I think, the "that's cool" which doesn't seem like enough. However, the poems ideas are wonderful, and I love the thought of opening your hands to let loose streams of butterflies and birds.
