    For Sorn

Most minds have enough space to move around, but yours...
yours trips me up, and I find
myself turned around and inside out, my eyes
barely catching a glimpse of what you say. It'd
be nice to open you up, your lid creaking, to see the treasure you hold close to your heart. There's something more behind your barriers, something that draws me in for a closer look. You think
that you're some kind of prince, conceited but
    not unbearable. You
rake your power across my skin, leaving
scars that will never fade. You're
a battlefield in my mind. I
fasten my helmet tightly but do not
carry a gun as I jump out of the trench and
prepare to search your mind once more. Your
complexity has me jumping out of my skin in
fear. What will I discover this time? Sometimes
when I tell you about myself, I fear the worst. Things you could say crawl through my own mind. I've got a lot of space in there, and my thoughts shimmer in and out. Yours
    are solid stones dropping into
all the right places, their words and meaning
tumbling into the perfect spot, piecing
    the puzzle together neatly. When
things fall apart, you are there to
stitch them back together again. Suddenly
I run back to the trench, your words
    launching themselves at me like
cannonballs! The roar of a close fire
chases me forward, the crack and boom of
another shot of words hits me in the back.
Instantly I am thrown to the ground but not destroyed, and, looking up, I see you standing beside me, offering your hand. Your
words have saved me yet again.
