Here’s my comment to you who feels that he has a bigger pencil then a number two. You have the ability to come and go, you have the ability to write what to your heart’s content, your reasons for leaving us in the dust is legitimate. And I commend that you voice your opinion. But if you want real poets, they don’t spend their time on the net they spend it with their noses in their books were you can’t see it, and if you do find yourself reading it, it’s because they decided to share it to the world within a book that you just bought or succumb to reading from the shelf.

i posted this before i knew that this site was completely dead but i would still like to see the senior members of what used to be a great site go somewhere they will be appreciated instead of beating a dead horse
Would you prefer the:
"Oh, yay! I <3 this! It makes me feel happy on my insides!!! Wheee~"
-type comments? If you ask for comments, that is what you'll be given. That's what there is around here. That's what this site has fallen to (mostly).
But: if you look hard enough here, there are little pods of writers still sticking to their guns and doing what this site hasn't focused on in a long time. It's still here, you just have to listen harder. No, not everyone is a cutter looking to vent, but that's the majority.
That said, there's not much anybody can do about it. It's not anybody's fault, unless you want to blame the 12-year-olds who want to chill (which should be as legitimate as any other reason to be on this site). It's just annoying as [censored] for those of us who've been here for nigh upon 4 years, or longer.
(PS: If you believe it's a lost cause, why are you riling people up so much?? Why does it matter? You've found another site, as you told Sheakhan, so why does it matter if this site has gone to hell, if you've no use for it anymore? It feels like you're just trying to piss people off. Either dedicate and try to change something in a real way, in a non-volatile way, or leave and stay gone. Nobody needs inflammatory spam stuff like this. Shove off. Really.)
cant you see that this site is falling apart
there is less people that there used to be and even less commenting
so before you start snapping me up take a look around and if you are not willing to do so then keep your dam mouth shut because members like you is why nothing is being fixed
i have already found another poetry site that's not dead
on that site i get plenty of comments and get to read and learn from a new level of poetry that this site hasn't seen in a long time
im still here because i happen to like the debate forum but even its going down hill
i don't put new poems on this site anymore and never will i already see that it is a lost cause
as soon as i find another debate forum i will say my last worthless words and be gone
until then keep your comments to yourself

For starters, let me say that I've been a member of ES for just about as long as you have.
I've got tons of comments, and tons of reads.
The most important part of poetry is not to have people give you feedback about it. Imagine you are a novelist and have published a book. How many people read it? How many comment? Reality is no different than this website so far as that ratio is concerned.
You complain, most rudely, about the state of the site, about the lack of comments, and yet I would imagine that you do nothing to support it. I would also imagine that you take for granted the comments you do receive.
Your immaturity does not suit you in this instance.
If you did not have this site to post your works on, how many comments would you have? None? Think about that.
You're better off with a terrible ratio of views to comments than you are with neither.
Aside from that, I, personally, do not often leave comments on terrible poetry, or poetry that is tired, cliché, poorly written, or unemotional. For instance, some of your writings would not inspire me to comment.
Consider a lack of comments to be statements themselves, showing you that your poetry does not move those who read it, does not instill them with a desire to speak their mind.
And even then, the webmaster has NOTHING to do with the users and their frequency of response. He can control many things, but people are not one of them.
So suck it up, and think before you insult the webmaster nexttime.

I'm sure you've read a poem and not commented. I have when a poem hasn't moved me in some way. You know, when it is droll and mediocre (or worse). No offense, but I just don't think it's that big of a deal. Maybe all a person could come up with top say was mean, and he/ she just didn't want to hurt your feelings.
Well said Dark Romeo. Nothing bugs me off quite as much as knowing that 2000 people have read it but only 2 people had the decency to rate/respond to my writing. You could also mention the number of people who don't return the favour of reviewing one of your poems after you rated one of theirs. Grr.
That speech in itself could be considered a poem >:}
