The Forest

The Forest ( for fimp )

And sweep in summer dreams
The fallen leaves of your sighs
For even lives no not even words will impart
The gathered aspirations of your soul
And no one will ever know

They will not see where your hand was so tenderly lain
Or catch by a portrait the trace of your smile
Who wonders for the soft light of your eyes
To ponder the thoughts you hold
And no one will ever know

Was it a soft embrace that sought you
In that heart and those arms so bereft to take you
In one night of heat lays his shadow
When he softly whispered “No”.
And who will ever know

Yet the line is imagined should it dare to be crossed
With bare feet beneath the hem of your skirt
Between flowers step such woolgatherings
Such hopeful and wishing fantasies
Still he will never know

So caught in the while away for the hours
As the wings of truth beat between your breath
More than a world is held in the touch of your finger
More than love can imagine
No stranger was he to such reveries
In sleepless winds when he called your name
But for the expectation of another verdant meadow
The forest will never know
