As I shuffled through the snow, I began to think of what might have happened back in the town if I had left the box alone. The town would probably continue to crumble under the church, and eventually destroy itself in an uprising of what some would call “Faith”. The snow was knee deep, the wind chilled you to the bone, and your soul shuttered with ice. At last, I was comfortable. My book stayed by my side, and my staff melted the ice and snow around it. The sword was sheathed, and looked to be a giant sickle of metal. I could feel the heart in my satchel. It still produced heat, and still beat. I had cursed the king, trapping his soul inside his heart. The heart began to harden as I walked, almost like it was turning to stone. I could see a cave off in the distance, as I neared it, I began to hear those familiar footsteps and whispers I heard before in my old home. I knew that this place was to be my new home. I came to the mouth of the den, I could feel something stir within, and the power within this place was tremendous. I took my staff and smashed it into the ground and the ice in front of me that covered the entrance smashed into pieces. Shards of razor sharp particles flew past my head. I entered the cave, an unnerving feeling entered my body, not of danger, but of annoyance. I saw something run behind a rock out of the corner of my eye. As I stepped closer to investigate, I heard something behind me. I turned to see a seven foot tall skeletal figure looming over me, same beautiful sash and robe as before.
“Greetings Nikoli,” It was Nex. “I saw your work in the town before you left and came here, you did very well. I have brought you here, and will now give you a reward for your work. Come Benak.” A small creature came running out from behind the rock to where I was venturing.
“Hello master.” The small creature said. He was about a foot tall, had a small tail that ended in a point. He had small wings to match his body, and his eyes were a beady yellow, he also had razor sharp teeth and seemed to be covered in flames.
“I am no longer your master, but this man here will do a good job of taking my place.” Nex claimed.
This was to be a long night.
