My father recently died, may he rest in peace. Though he was not perfect and was an alcoholic and drug abuser I love him very much and it always upset me how the people around him could watch him self destruct and not only not stand in his way but enable him. I suppose the straw that broke camel's back was when his drug dealer came to the funeral. I'll never forget the way he stared at me with guilt written on his face as I sobbed over my father's dead body. I'll never forget how his hands still looked the same as they clutched the #1 DAD necklace I had given him when I was 5. These are the things I didn't have the courage to say that day to this man who helped take him away from me. However no matter what my father always said that compassion was the best way to go through life and so I have been able to embrace this enlightment through his resent passing. I hope that he sees what I have become and is proud that his death though sorrowful has made me a better person and thus not in vain.
    Rest in Peace

    Hands of marble
    Face so serene
    How dare you curse me
    with your presence
    with your wasted space

How could you take him from me?
How could you answer his pleas of insanity?

    Does it hurt?
    Knowing you aided his self-destruction?

    Preying upon his weakness
Being the one thing to never let him down
    For what?
    Another dolla bill?
Is that guilt on your face?
Don't look away from my pain
    You watch these tears
    You watch my fears
realized in the face of my father's dead eyes
You think I don't know your place?
The place you were to push just one more
Just one more to make him fly
Just one more to make him high
    You think I don't understand?
    The need of money
Seeing how easy it would be to make him bend to your will
It doesn't give you the right

    Remember my tears
    Remember this night
    My cries of agony
Let the lost love of a daughter for her
    Father haunt all your dreams

    Marble man
    Lost to me
You never understood the hate in my thoughts
    He took you from me
    With his deals
    With his lost faith
    With his tarnished fate

But for you I embrace your ideals.

-Idolize the joy in everyone's surrounding eyes.-
    Look at me
    On the ground
    Weak with my sorrow
    It's not your fault
    -Hope for those lost.-
    Look at me
    Standing slowly
    Steady on the ground
    Find your way
    Be a stranger no more
To the sun beyond your door
    -Faith in mankind-
    Look at me
    Tears of rage and sorrow
    Dry on the floor
    Forget your tricks
Hear the words from my lips
    "There is more"

    look at him
    Marble man in the sky
    Peace and serenity
And look how he can fly

Firstly, my condolences for your father. The love you shared must have been extremely strong.. I admire you for that as my father is a strict Catholic and alcoholic and I do not love him. Secondly, the anger and pain in this comes across excellently. You have no trouble getting your point across, which is good. My favorite lines are "Parasite/Preying upon his weakness/Being the one thing to never let him down/For what?/Another dolla bill?/Is that guilt on your face?/Don't look away from my pain".
