I believe we choose the paths that we take before we are even born. So, as I accept the fact that I chose a relentless path, I can actually move on from it and maybe, just maybe, rise above it to find that ultimate experience. We'll see.

    dotsDon't Look Backdots

    Valium induced but reality smacked
Thought I had fallen and gotten back up
The pressure on my knees as a matter of fact,
Tells me it's never really enough

Lesson after lesson I continue to burn
I chose to walk barefoot, despite cold weather
Lost in the dark from another wrong turn
Too much exposure turns silk into leather

I turn to look just one last time
It's the second guessing to a different tune
Should I return to claim what was once mine?
Or shut the lid to this empty tomb?

Lesson after lesson as the years go by
Chosen a path of chaos and fear
I walk away slow, but I will not cry
For there's no such thing as just one tear

Here I go through uncharted lands
Beaten and bruised with nothing to pack
Feeling the struggle of tempting hands
But there is no fear, if I don't look back

Bravo! This is excellent! If ever there was a poetic description of bravery and determination, this is it!

You done good on this, pretty lady! Those who have been there will know what you are talking about!

"There is no such thing as one tear"-

"But there is no fear, If I don't look back"

Both those statements are deeply touching to me. I enjoyed the fact that in the end you are rising above, moving on and becoming better instead of letting the past beat you down.

    Great writ.

Wow, that is a powerful story about pain and the working through and past it, for lingering in it gets you nowhere fast. I truly enjoyed your message and the fine way it was presented.
