I sat in the small Hogsmeade café, waiting for my son to walk in the door. He had sent me an owl saying that he was going to Hogsmeade this weekend. I had told Lucius that the Dark Lord had asked me to do something for him. Bad excuse. Lucius immediately got furious that the Dark Lord asked me to do something instead of him.
After recollecting my thoughts, I heard the little bell on the door that rang to inform you that someone walked in the café. I looked up from the cup of tea that sat in front of me and saw my son Draco, walk through the door. He saw me as I got up from my chair. He smiled and locked me in an embrace.
“Hey mom,” he said, as I returned the hug. I then kissed him on the nose, like I used to when he was little. His nose immediately scrunched up, like always. He was so much like Lucius.
I sat in the exact same café, waiting for my date with Lucius Malfoy to begin. Rumors had already begun to fly around school that I was pregnant with his child. Not true. We hadn’t even been going out for that long. 34 days to be exact. I saw him walk into the café but I didn’t get up. I just smiled at him from where I was sitting. Our relationship wasn’t to the point of hugging and kissing in public yet. We both wanted to break that wall and at least hug in front of our friends but we were both too afraid to do that.
He sat next to me and we smiled at each other. “Hey,” I said, looking into his grey eyes with my ice blue ones. He smiled at me. “Hey,” he replied sweetly.
“Hi sweetie,” I said to Draco as we sat back down. “How’s school lately?” I asked him, which earned a sigh from Draco.
“I broke up with Carlie,” he told me. I could see the pain in his grey eyes.
“Oh, honey,” I whispered, feeling sorry that I said anything at all.
“Don’t be sorry mom. Now I’m dating Katrina Harper. She’s a sixth year,” he said, sounding really proud of himself for dating a girl a year older than him.
“Oh…well…That’s…good…” I said, not knowing what else a mother should say.
I walked down the stairs from the girl’s dormitory at about midnight in my jammies. I had gotten an owl about 10 minutes earlier. I saw Lucius pacing in the common room. I snuck up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder which made him jump.
“Oh…Hi…” he said, trying to calm down.
“Sorry I spooked you…” I said starting to worry about him.
“It’s fine….but we need to talk…” Lulu said. Uh-oh. I hated those words. He was going to break up with me. I decided to let him explain before I jumped to conclusions.
“I…I was having a few drinks last night when a girl…I’m not naming names…A girl walked into the common room and I started flirting with her and she started flirting back…and one thing led to another…and I think you get the point…” he said, looking hurt and disappointed.
My eyes filled with hot angry tears of pain. “I hate you…Never speak to me again!” I yelled as I ran back up to my room.
If Draco wasn’t such a momma’s boy, there would be no doubt that he was much more like Lucius than I. Switching girlfriends like he switched classes.
“Are you…upset?” Draco asked.
“Oh sweetie. Of course not,” I told him. “I’ll never be disappointed in you. I love you so much. You’re so much like your father, that’s all,” I said, with a forced smile.
“Oh…why didn’t he come here with you today?” Draco asked, beginning to cheer up.
“Oh…you know you’re father…always busy doing something…” I said, making up an excuse.
“He doesn’t know you’re here, does he?” Draco asked.
“You know me too well,” I told him, chuckling
