The rain trickles slowly into my aching heart.
Just as the caged bird yerns her freedom,
I yern to hold him in my arms.
The cage around me strangles me,
perventing me from singing my song.
The rain pounds at my soul like stinging hail.
In anguish I scream into the bitter night,
As the caged bird has her spirit broken.
Hurt weilds up from deep inside me,
But the rain hides my midnight tears.
In this pounding rain he comes to me,
He lets me forget my pain, my sorrow.
The caged bird is suddenly set free,
All the restraints seem to disappear.
The rain is gone, and I am free...
Free to fly,
Free to dream,
Free to love. |
