    dotsThe last mealdots

Walking on the pavements, man saw a restaurant,
Stimulated those taste buds that were dormant.
Old man smiling,he looked so young at heart,
Ordered fish with asparagus sauce and tart.

Relished the soup and the tasty entree,
Enjoying his meal on a quiet Sunday.
Old man had his main course and dessert,
Paid the bill in cash and left in comfort.

Kissed his wife as he reached home,
Petted his dog and gave it a big bone.
Feeling strange, he complained of headache,
Groaning with stomach pain, he slept late.

Didn't answer when wife knocked on the wooden door,
6 at dawn, old man found dead at the bathroom floor.
Toxic food killed him and medical tests proved it,
Restaurant chef had no answer, he felt so foolish.

Aruging that the food was fresh as sunshine,
Tests proved the food was out for quite sometime.
Had no safety training admitted the cook,
Jugde now silent, just gave him a stern look.

Verdict out, cook to spend ten years behind bars,
Poor wife with deep injuries and lifelong scars.
For an old woman, no one knows how that feels,
Wished she could stop him before that last meal.
