It seems like only yesterday Or perhaps the day before You were watching Barney With your blanket on the floor Then baby dolls and Barbie dolls And play doh on my dishes Piggy tails and kool aid stains And endless goodnight kisses Then came your first day of school Followed by your first best friend Your first fight, first crush, first date First bro ken heart to mend. Cheerleading practice, softball games New school, new friends, new teams Fashion statements, birthday parties And suddenly you’re sixteen. As the days filled up with memories The years flew by too fast With photo albums and videos We captured moments as they passed. And now on your Graduation Day As you walk across that stage Another milestone is created on this chapter’s final page And though I’m just one single mom In this enormous happy crowd I hope you somehow understand There’s no other here as proud.
