For those of you who have commented on this poem, I will share with you the few things that inspired me to write it. First was a line in a song by the band My Chemical Romance. Their song "The end" had a line that said "If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, you can find out first hand what it's like to be me" That has always been how I felt about myself and that song really brought it home for me. Then, at a halloween party, I had been struck with a part of the poem, though I'm not sure if I incorporated it in there or not but it said
"We look into the mirror, to see our reflection
As, at it we leer, we're looking in the wrong direction"
Thank you ll for commenting, I really appreciate it.
This poem re-states a great but boringly well-known notion; it's been celebrated in poetry and prose and a zillion songs for godnoze how many centuries. Well, after doing that, like we all do, the ambitiously artistic thing to go for is an original figure. Can you come up with a story or a character or a metaphor and the mirror/skin-deep thing is a trick ending to it or something?
like i knew you would write!
sometimes..people underestimate other people.
but when you look in the mirror, you can't escape
anything!its there telling you the truth.
when i look in the mirror,i see how strong i can be! and i hope when you look you see the same thing.
this whole thing has taught me ,inner strengh no matter how you push it down,it comes out when you need it.thank you for helping me with finding it again.
