Found the courage to leave the lifestyle
That would have soon ended up killing me

Got the spine to leave you,
Whom although I loved and still love,
    You were enabling me
Demolishing what little structure I had left

    Now that we are apart
I am weary of what lies around each corner
    Wanting you near,
Feeling that comfort I once felt
From your presence, from your reassuring voice

For, now I am alone with this pain
    My blackened heart grows darker
All these insecurities become my unwanted reality

I have essentially become my own worst enemy
    Beginning to enable myself
For that is all I know

Hating this person I have become
    No longer wanting this life
Yet no matter the strength of my hatred or not wanting this life any longer

I... do not have the kind of strength it takes to change it.

So much of the way you feel it seems like you ripped from inside my soul. And not many people can do that. Right down to similar titles, the only difference I did not suffer the sexual abuse at the hands of a loved one's lack of love,
But I was raped my freshman year and molested as a child by several baby sitters. I just always acted like it never happened., So I never gave anyone the chance to see or to protect me.
I like your work, It drips of emotion raw and unchecked.

We all dread leaving a familiar thing, even if it is bad for us, if that means that we will be all alone. We step into a darkness, uncertain if the light will ever find us, afraid of how difficult it might be to find our way and of what might be lurking out there. But to our great relief, if we persist bravely, before long the Sun again rises and chases away the darkness, and gives rise to yet another day!

Powerful and very intense write! You have touched on feelings that all who have had to pull away from something that was at once compelling, and still bad for us, have felt. Your verse may help others also to have the strength to pull away, or at least see that they aren't alone with their feelings.

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
