"Murderer! That boy killed his parents! He's guilty! Guilty!"
Poe woke with a start, a cold sweat having accumulated. He sat up, feeling beads of sweat crawl down his temple and slow at his cheek, he wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and let out a shaky breath. Violet hair clung to his cooling forehead, blue-gray eyes staring up at the ceiling with a look of remorse. That day played so clearly in his mind, the day his parents had been killed and he had taken blame for it. It was unfair, he hadn't done anything to his mother and father, he loved them after all.
Furry cat ears swiveled in every direction, listening to cars as they zoomed by, or the hiss of a cat nearby. The fourteen-year-old turned onto his side, strands of silky odd-colored hair falling to cover his cheek. He glared out his window, the curtains drawn back to let moon light seep into his room. The long, slender tail that protruded from his lower back twitched in irritation. He couldn't sleep anymore; than again, he never really ever slept at all. His knees were up to his chest, his hands tucked under the white puffed up cotton pillow his head rested on, the sheets tossed away from his body along with the comforter.
"Guilty!"
Poe cringed, ears flat against his head. He wasn't guilty, he hadn't killed them. No one believed him though, no one. .except for Huyu. His precious Huyu, the only person in the world who believed him and didn't ostracize him. He had been the only person to actually take Poe in, the only person who willingly took him in. Everyone else was scared of him; all because they thought he'd murdered his parents. It had been atleast nine years since his parents had passed away, and still, people loathed and feared him.
Warm tears streamed down the youth's pale skin, his eyes puffy, red, and stinging. He sniffed, and took deep shaky breaths hoping to stop himself from sobbing. It was no use. Poe could only handle so much, his chest felt a familiar jabbing sensation, his head ached, and his tears sent a powerful wave through out him making his petite form tremble. "I-I. .didn't. . .k-kill. .th-em. ." he hiccuped softly to himself. Huyu wasn't home, he couldn't crawl into bed with him tonight and that just made things worse. He needed solace, and Huyu was the only person who could ever give him some type of comfort. He sat up, tears stronger than before and stepped off of his bed, his tail was lowered and his ears pinned back against his head. Long violet hair bounced with each step Poe took, until he reached Huyu's door and pushed it open gently.
He wasn't there, but Poe knew that. He stepped inside tentatively, and closed the door slightly behind him, leaving it cracked open. He jogged over to Huyu's bed and crawled under the covers, the room was pitch black the dark curtains hanging against the window in the room blocking out any form of light possible. As soon as Poe had wrapped himself in Huyu's sheets, the male's scent hit him hard and fast; winter and mint. He nuzzled his face into a cool pillow, his body curling up into a ball as he stifled his tears and eventually fell asleep from exhaustion.
The night had gone by agonizlingly slow, and Poe hadn't realized Huyu had come home until he felt the bed move and something press against his back. He opened his eyes slowly, still filled with sleep as he turned over slightly to catch a glimpse of Huyu. His back turned to Poe. His eyes then traveled over to the alarm clock in the room on the bedside table and let out a low sigh. Five-thirty. Way too early to be up and about yet. Yawning, he burried himself under the covers and curled his tail around himself. He felt much more at ease nowing Huyu was there. He wasn't alone anymore.
Maybe he'd fallen asleep for another couple hours before he'd been woken up again by a familiar voice, the sound was so soft but very firm and dangerous. He looked around, the room was filled with dim light and Huyu wasn't beside Poe anymore. He sat up completely, yawning as he scratched his head and shuffled out of bed, the covers trailing behind him before finally stopping at the door. His eyes were opened half-way, his nose picking up the distinct smell of bacon and eggs. He hurried into the kitchen, his stomach growling. There he found Huyu at work with an apron on, and his eyes glued to the small television set in the kitchen. Poe made his way to a chair and sat down, yawning again, his hair sticking out every which way and his eyes clear with groggriness.
Huyu took his gaze from the T.V. smiling at Poe,"Morning." he turned back to what he'd been doing and quickly grabbed two plates and set them on the counter, he then took the spatula in his hand and used it to set a couple pieces of bacon and eggs on both plates before turning the stove off and setting the spatula into the sink. He took the food and put a plate in front of Poe, then set the other down for himself,"Milk, or orange juice?" he asked, walking over to the fridge and opened it waiting for a reply. Poe looked at the food, its aroma filling his nose and making them flare, he licked his lips his mouth watering,"Ugh, can we have soda for a drink today?" he asked, looking up momentarily before leaving his seat to grab two forks and put one near Huyu's plate then sat back down and started to scarf his food done hungrily.
Huyu arched a brow, shaking his head,"Milk, or orange juice?" he repeated, staring at Poe as he started to devour the food in front of him."Ugh, fine, orange juice please." he said through a mouth full of eggs and bacon. He chewed quickly, swallowing soon after. Huyu nodded, chuckling as he grabbed the gallon of orange juice out from the refridgerator and searched the cabinets for two glasses. He filled them, then put the orange juice away and settled Poe's glass in front of him and took a sip from his own, he looked down at his food and slowly started to pick at it. Nibbling, considering he wasn't all that hungry but he had to keep things up,"Did you have another nightmare, Poe?" Huyu looked up from his food, staring at the cat-eared boy sitting in front of him. The television noise droning out in the background.
Poe licked his lips, his plate cleaned and grabbed his glass before taking a sip,"Yeah, just the same thing." he answered, before setting the glass back down and finally met with Huyu's gaze. It was strange, to see someone with crimson eyes. They were rare, hell, they were impossible to have, but Huyu had them. There had always been something off with Huyu, but Poe could never fathom what it was. Every time he got close to an answer it'd slip away from him and he'd forget about it. He looked down at his feet, wiggling his toes,"Are you staying home tonight?" usually after one night out, Huyu would stay home; but he always surprised Poe.
"Yes, I'm staying tonight." Huyu swept a hand through dark chocolate locks that fell to his shoulders his fringe falling around to cover his eyes slightly. He looked at Poe's plate, then reached out for it. He took it in his hands, and walked over to the sink, he washed it quickly then dried his hands off. He turned back around to stare at his half eaten food and sighed,"I'm not hungry today." he mumbled, and took his plate only to scrape off the remainder of the eggs and bacon into the trash can. He set his plate into the seat, not bothering to wash it and downed the rest of his orange juice,"You should go shower. I want to go out to the park with you today." he said, then turned the television off and walked out of the kitchen, heading in the direction of his room.
Poe looked up as Huyu started walking away, he felt a large smile pull at the corner of his lips and he nodded,"Okay." he stood up, and hurried to his room ready to grab any clothing he could find and rushed into the bathroom. It was a treat whenever Huyu wanted to go out, though he let Poe go anywhere he liked, he never really went out with Huyu. It just didn't seem right to leave without him.
