Avoidance of pain
A suit of armour worn.
For a battle that began
so long ago.
The wounds and scars
still covered and protected
by this magnificent armour.
Bullet proof and strong
This defence had served well,
providing much needed protection and
Saving the soldiers life on many occasion.
Upon her return home the soldier
left unable to peel off the suit
no longer needed.
The wounds lay deep and festered
her fear that removing it
would be the death of her.
For many years the armour
continued to be worn,
mended and polished.
The soldier proud of its usefulness
although no longer needed.
Until the day she met her warrior princess,
causing the soldier to want
to show her true self and to slowly
take away the heavy protection.
Left with nothing but raw skin and pain.
The frightened soldier desperately tried to
put the suit back on, but to no avail.
The warrior princess had already begun
to soothe the wounds with a special balm
and the soldier with his calming presence.
Tending and caring for the soldier to
reveal the vulnerable person beneath.
She is the only one and without her
the soldier may have been a magnificent suit
of armour for the rest of her years....
(And they lived happily ever after the end LOL)
