Absurdity is the human condition. Something no human can be without, willing or unwillingly. Most of the absurdities in life happen for no reason at all, and that is what makes them absurd. These effects have no causes, these reactions have no actions. Many can be blatant or so miniscule that no one pays attention to them, but they still happen everyday. They are such a normal part of life that the only way to live without absurdities is to stop living completely, but that in it’s self may even be absurd, if it’s suicide.
Nothing in life is meaningless because if that were true then it wouldn’t exist. Everything has meaning, it’s just what meaning is known or put there to validate it. Validation is what makes life work because without it we will just takes things at face value. That’s not what life is meant to be. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest extent one can take. With sickness and diseases these extents are shown, many diseases are lethal because of how they are caught or developed. Some are genetic but some are caused by carelessness or living in excess. That excess is caused by reaching a limit that is more than one person can take. Shall a person never go the limit how will you know how much you can take? It is here where people take chances or live in a protective bubble they made for them selves.
Should people want a better tomorrow? What really is tomorrow? A day closer to the day we die. Does anyone live by this creed? Should we all live as though each and everyday is another step closer to death? Something we can’t get away from, yet also something we can’t live without. It is this that is the ultimate absurdity, you can not live without slowly dying at the same time. Could it be this reason that true suicidal beings want no part of this inescapable questionable existence? I’d ask them if I could but many may not even realize this was or could be part of their reason for attempting suicide. If life is useless to them, then what is death? The ultimate unknown may be better than not having a life that is worth living.
Suicide, an acknowledgement that life isn’t worth living. What can make life worth living? Recognition? So you must always be the best at something to live? That can’t always be possible because not everyone who is good at something always knows they are the best. If awards do make someone feel accomplished in life, then what happens when they die accidentally or of old age? Will they still be that good in the grave? No. Would religion help someone come back from the edge of suicide? It may but what are the reasons? They all can’t apply to everyone. Each has their own reasons for committing suicide or believing that no matter how hard life is suicide is never the answer.
For some the life they live may be too much or too little. No family, no friends, no enjoyment or just the opposite a person’s family and friends may depend so much on them that they just can’t take it. Others may just feel this life isn’t for them or that society mocks them in such a way that suicide is the only solution to the equation that is life. The absurdities of life can’t be taken by everyone and those who can stand them should be recognized just for the fact they held on and kept going. Even if they attempted suicide for attention, they really never wanted to let go of life, they just wanted to know they were liked or loved and had friends. They want at least that much out of life, friendship.
Human freedom is the chance to give life meaning. Each and every person has it. It just isn’t embraced my all. Man’s ability to make meaning of life is the only freedom that can not be taken away. This is because even with rules and laws each individual still has opportunities to do better and make something of them selves. The one true freedom is to never give up or to at least do their best. Lives are worth living just for this experience, the want and desire to be the best they possibly can. Desire is what makes everything go in life. Desire is like life is always at a green light and the possibilities are an open road. Depression is just traffic or a road block because soon enough something will happen to make life sparkle with,… well life.
Sisyphus had cheated death and because of this was banished to do pointless work for eternity. Much like everyone else is in a normal life. There might be times when Sisyphus is happy and there might be times when a person at a repetitive job is happy. There can always be upsides to everything no matter how hard the downsides are now or become in the future, because life is full of these so is Sisyphus’ punishment for defying death. Sisyphus’ punishment is an eternal life of eternal ups and downs, his rest is so fast and reward so short it is proof that life needs to end sometime.
Camus’ views on absurdity do bring a lot to light because life can’t always be a fairy tale or perfect. No one has a place for everything and the things no one wants or has time for, but some how finds time and puts the effort in to it dealing with these so called absurdities are human. Most of these humans find a way to carry on through thick and thin. Suicide isn’t common once humans find a comfortable spot within themselves, death is the inevitable. The achievement of an opus, a meaningful life is what every human wants. Accomplishments over the absurd, overcoming hardships throughout life is what makes a human immortal to their selves and those around them.
If the world is unreasonable then who’s to say living isn’t. What if someone just finds life unfulfilling or hopeless then is that not reason enough to not want a life. What if someone wanted to donate their entire body to people who will carry on with life and be someone, is that not recognition enough to let it happen. Many reasons people may want to no longer be here. I can not say if it is wrong, who is anyone to judge another’s beliefs and desires. That is a human feature, individual thought and want. No one should be looked down upon for doing something as long as it isn’t hurting anyone physically. Emotions will flow but bloodless wounds leave no scars.
As with anything as unknown as death, though there are few unknowns in this day and age, there must be a want or desire to take in what lies beyond life. Maybe they just wanted that unknown knowledge for their selves, it is not such a bad thing when you think about it, if it makes someone happy and that is what they really want. Then let them have it. The downside is they can’t have the cake and eat it too, no one will ever know what lurks on death’s scythe.
Fate is absurd. There lives no perfectly happy being. If there is any being above humans, have they beaten death? If so why? Is death that scary to some? To an entire society it is. Death is the final scene in this play we put on called life. Everything must end, for a new life will be brought in this world. Nothing ever leaves, nothing ever. So then death is nothing but part of an endless cycle where everything will be okay in the end. |
