    Tempo Purdah

    Drag this breath from me
Its last expulsion into the listless midnight
    Of ignored reminders

Reject of love it hung there
Within the blue glare of over cooked
Against the suns waving hands of palms
    They carried its metronome tempo

“ Nothing is going to happen ”
Whispered the emptying glass of bottomless
    In laden breezes of heat
    Repeats the melting ice
On soirées sycophantic collected diaphones that cool the tongue from screaming

You my love; leave me haunted
    In the vagaries of poetry

To collect nothing but the beginnings
    Of every breath I breathe

    I hang between

And the allure of “ not ”
Not anymore; to bury this needles point of yearning
Into a pillow which hides my weeping

And not to look out with eyes which do not see you
    Behind their lost brown
    Of self wrote in emptiness
Smacks every stranger they meet, with sadness

Whispered the empty glass to its bottomless
Dissolving in ice in the relentless heat
So its vapours can catch this last breath from me
Against the empty tempo of the suns waving hands
And stop my tongue from screaming

    Drag this breath from me
Its last expulsion into the listless midnight
    Of ignored reminders
